Donald Trump Suggests Removal of World Cup Fixtures from Boston, Olympics from LA

Ex-president Trump has repeatedly announced he would influence FIFA to pull 2026 World Cup events from a designated city based on the local governance, with Boston emerging as the most recent such city to encounter such warnings from the US president. Moreover, Trump indicated he would evaluate similar action against LA for the upcoming Olympic Games due to potential public safety risks.

Although Trump does not have direct legal authority to personally cancel either tournament, he is able to exert influence the respective governing bodies in charge of each competition to move venues.

His comments were made during a press event with Argentinian president Milei, who was present in the White House following the announcement of a multibillion-dollar financial assistance for the Argentine nation.
